KEY FOCUS AREAS 1. Departmental Leadership: Lead, motivate, and develop the Creditors team to achieve departmental goals and maintain high performance. Foster an approachable and supportive leadership style, ensuring open communication and team engagement. Work closely with the other Creditors Manager, demonstrating strong teamwork and the ability to manage a team with diverse personalities. 2. General HR Management: Manage HR-related responsibilities including performance management, recruitment, and disciplinary procedures. 3. Team Performance and Support: Manage the team's ongoing personal performance and ensure sufficient training is given to staff who are struggling. Provide a process for grievances and conflict resolution, escalating to HR where required. 4. Reporting to the Finance Manager: Submit weekly on outstanding queries, staff management, and new staff check-ins. Timeously escalate unresolved queries and transporter issues, and respond promptly to query listings and emails from the Finance Manager. 5. Transporter Relationship Management: Make regular contact with transporters to foster and maintain a good working relationship. Manage onboarding of new transporters and set up meetings for any new SOP requirements. Set up quarterly (or as-needed) meetings with transporters to proactively resolve queries, and respond timeously to transporter queries and emails. 6. POD and Query Management: Keep a running log of outstanding PODs and queries per transporter, escalating persistent non-compliance and keeping overall query volumes to a minimum. Oversee end-to-end resolution of outstanding queries and ensure dedicated query time is used effectively by the team. 7. Accounting: Check and review creditor reconciliations monthly. Upload approved payments onto the accounting system, ensuring amounts and references are correct. 8. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements relating to accounts payable and creditor management. Implement controls to mitigate financial risks such as fraud, errors, and duplicate payments, and stay abreast of industry best practices in transportation creditor management. 9. Process Ownership and Improvement: Take ownership of processes, ensuring they are executed effectively and continuously improved. Identify opportunities for automation, technology integration, and workflow optimisation within the transportation creditors function. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED • Matric (essential) • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field [advantageous]. • Proven experience in a creditors or accounts payable management role, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry. • Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g. Acumatica), creditors reconciliation processes, and Microsoft Office Suite. • Minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in accounts payable management, preferably within the transportation or logistics industry. • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and internal controls. • Demonstrated leadership experience with people management and HR process oversight. KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED • Strong people-management skills, including performance management, disciplinary processes, and staff development. • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret reconciliations, aging analyses, and creditor-related data. • Strong communication and relationship-management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with transporters, colleagues, and senior management. • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple queries simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Sound judgement and the ability to take ownership of matters beyond a strict job description.
